That familiar site is now set to become something entirely new.
After several years of planning, the City of Olathe has approved construction of a $25 million Animal Care Campus, a project that reflects both the city’s growth and its long-term investment in quality of life.

For many residents, referencing the old Sutherlands store makes this location instantly recognizable.
This part of town has steadily evolved over the years, with continued residential expansion to the west and infrastructure improvements supporting that growth. Projects like this tend to follow that momentum.

The current Olathe animal shelter on Sunvale Drive was built in 1988 and has not seen major updates since.
